
It's not true that Bangladesh exists only so that India has someplace to make fun of. That's Pakistan. Like Pakistan, Bangladesh was once part of India. In 1947, just prior to leaving India themselves, Britain carved out the areas now known as Bangladesh and Pakistan and told Indian Muslims to go live there. At that time Bangladesh was called "East Pakistan," but in 1971, with the help of India (and to the great consternation of West Pakistan,) Bangladesh revolted and formed its own nation.
