Saxony-Anhalt Ranks First
in German States’ Subsidies Policy

According to Ernst & Young’s current Mittelstandsbarometer (mood barometer for small- and medium-sized businesses), 90 percent of entrepreneurs rate the basic business conditions in Saxony-Anhalt as positive. The state ranks first in this measure among the new federal states.

Nowhere else in Germany are entrepreneurs more content with regional subsidies policy – 78 percent of Saxony-Anhalt respondents voted positively. After a second-place finish in 2009, Saxony-Anhalt is now in the top position for subsidies policy in the nationwide Länderranking, or Ranking of German Federal States.

"These survey results show that Saxony-Anhalt is on the right path,” says Dr. Reiner Haseloff, Minister for Economic Affairs. “They once again confirm that we have placed the right emphasis on structural and business development. Especially during the current economic situation, we are increasingly in demand as promoters of business development. This includes consulting with companies on approval processes for the provision of subsidies."

In addition to economic conditions, Saxony-Anhalt also received good marks for its infrastructure. Eighty-five percent of the small- and medium-sized businesses surveyed indicated they were satisfied. Here, too, Saxony-Anhalt ranked best in eastern Germany.
