Saxony-Anhalt Supplies Glass for Signature
German and World Construction Projects

Following construction of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Guardian Flachglas GmbH, the German subsidiary of Guardian Industries Group, also will provide the glass for the façade of the new Elbe Philharmonic Hall, in Hamburg. The façade for this ambitious project is in development, and the first glass is being installed in anticipation of a 2012 opening.

The Guardian Industries Group, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, has over 19,000 employees worldwide and employs about 300 people in its Saxony-Anhalt plant.

Saxony-Anhalt has become an important center for the European flat glass industry. The federal state is home to one third of German production and one tenth of European production. Raw materials, including quartz sand, soda and lime, are in plentiful supply as are superb transport links, industrial space and funding opportunities. These attributes make Saxony-Anhalt a highly attractive location for glass processors.

"Why do I read Site Selection?"

Site Selection is one of the more important publications that I read. The articles usually provide me much more insight into the decision-makers' processes and mindsets. They also give me substantive information to consider, with much of it being on the leading edge. The articles make me think about how they can improve my clients' portfolios. I find myself cutting out articles and forwarding such information to my clients for consideration. To me, Site Selection, along with a few other periodicals, is important to my business."
