Crystal clear advantage for Saxony-Anhalt:
The foundation is laid for another glass plant
Agenda Glas AG is building new industrial premises in Gardelegen, in northern Saxony-Anhalt, for the production of glassware for the food and drink industry. The €50-million project will create 150 jobs. The glass works are designed for an annual capacity of 95,000 tonnes or around 300 million containers.
According to Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, "The favorable conditions concerning the availability of raw materials and infrastructure may, to a great extent, have contributed to Saxony-Anhalt rising to become the number one location for glass production. The country has developed into a significant center of the European float glass industry. A third of German production and a tenth of European production come from here."
Including the f | glass GmbH production plant currently under construction in Osterweddingen, a joint venture between the Scheuten and Interpan companies, the country has four float glass works at its disposal: Euroglas in Haldensleben, Euroglas in Osterweddingen, Guardian in Wolfen/Thalheim and f | glass.
