Electric car revolution in Saxony-Anhalt

The Saxony-Anhalt district of Harz is becoming a model region for electric mobility across Germany. The goal is to build a fleet of 25 electric vehicles around Halberstadt, Wernigerode and Quedlinburg. This should help to test the potential of electric mobility in a more rural region using the highest possible proportion of renewable energy.

A team of experts in Harz plans to test how the car can be used as a mobile energy accumulator for electricity generated from renewable energy. Medium-sized companies strongly rooted in the region are just as much a part of the team as big businesses like Vodafone, Siemens AG, E.ON Avacon AG and Deutsche Bahn AG, as well as various research institutes in the state. Everything will initially revolve around designing the data-communication structure between vehicles, charging stations, energy grids and renewable feeders. In this way, locations for charging stations should be identified, built and examined in operation with electric vehicles in a field experiment.

"Why do I read Site Selection?"

Your magazine has been helpful to me. I look to the regional reports. This is work I don't do all the time. To get in the groove, and see what those who do it all the time are doing, it helps to get your head in the game.
