Solar Valley - Center of PV Industries
Around 60 worldwide leading photovoltaic (PV) companies have joined the solar family in Solar Valley and are taking advantage of the numerous benefits in know-how and experience. Almost 200 million Euros were invested for research and development in 2007 alone. The focal point is the CSP, the "Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics." The Solar Valley has the world’s highest density of companies involved in the photovoltaic industry and unifies all PV technologies. Companies want to maintain their worldwide economic/technological advantage with R&D activities. Their aim - network equality for electricity from photovoltaic systems in Germany by 2015 - is supported by renowned companies such as Q-Cells, Sovello, Sontor, Malibu or PV Crystalox, Ersol or SolarWorld. "We are currently experiencing a sensation like time travel in the German photovoltaic industry - the price-performance ratio is right, especially for the German cells, which are the best quality ones," says Sören Lorenz, Chairman of SRU Solar AG, which is based in the Central German Solar Valley.
