The business sky is not altogether falling, really. Take mercurial Tesla Motors, which has pulled a major U-turn and will now spend $250 million to manufacture its second-generation electric car in the company's birthplace: Silicon Valley. It's such a nice development, in fact, that's it's fully alleviated a situation that once drove California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger "absolutely insane," as this week's SiteNet Dispatch explains.
Tesla Chair Elon Musk
A Real Break on Silicon Valley Rent: Tesla Chairman and PayPal co-founder Elon Musk announces the company's 1,000-worker expansion at the San Jose site that the company will occupy rent-free for 10 years.

Saxony-Anhalt: Dell GmbH as Green IT Pioneer

In September 2007 Michael Dell, founder of the world's second-largest PC manufacturer, committed to a swift conversion of his company to climate-neutral operations. Dell had planned end-2008 for the neutralisation of CO2 emissions in business activities. The target, however, was already achieved in mid-2008. A bundle of measures was taking effect - from increasing energy efficiency in Dell's regional offices to usage of renewable energies, Michael Dell reported in a meeting on Green IT that was held in the permanent representation of Saxony-Anhalt in Berlin. The event was attended by ministers, secretaries of state and department heads from almost all German federal states and federal ministries.

Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Economics, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, referred to Dell's major branch office in Halle when he said: "It is always good to find the best examples in your own state to prove that Saxony-Anhalt's economy is among the early risers also in terms of climate protection."
