Embraer's Phenom executive jet is one hot little airplane. And now the Phenom will be built in Melbourne, Fla., at the Brazilian air giant's first U.S. plant. And as this week's SiteNet Dispatch explains, Embraer made its site-selection sally into the Sunshine State the same way it's ramping up the Phenom model - that is, moving very, very fast.

Coming in for a Major Landing: Embraer in Florida will be building the four-passenger Phenom 100 (pictured), which lists for US$2.95 million, and the nine-passenger Phenom 300, which will set you back $6.65 million. Demand is already so heavy that, if you ordered one of the planes today, even with production underway, it couldn't be delivered until 2011.

This week's SiteNet Dispatch brings readers new and exclusive stories from the May 2008 issue of Site Selection, including:

Many Mobile Firms Picking Mobile: Expansion is in full flower these days in and around Mobile, Ala. (pictured here from atop the RSA Tower). The region is enjoying an unprecedented string of large-scale corporate projects, landing the likes of ThyssenKrupp, Austal, ST Aerospace and others, including Northrop Grumman and EADS, which plan a $600-million investment in Mobile in conjunction with a $40-billion U.S. Dept. of Defense contract.

  • "DSM Opens New Plant in China"
  • "Samsung to Build New Plant in China"
  • "Sunplus Opens R&D Centres in France and UK"
  • "Linklaters CEE Practices Form Spin-Off"

Where In the World? This life-size statue commemorates "the world's tallest man," who stood almost nine feet (2.73 meters) tall - and lived a quietly remarkable life. Can you name the city in which this statue sits?
