Amazon has really grouped its real estate order for shipping. As this week's SiteNet Dispatch explains, the online titan has double-clicked on 1.64 million sq. ft. (147,600 sq. m.) of headquarters space in 11 new buildings for 7,000 employees - 3,000 of them new hires.

Sailing for a Big Landing: Amazon will dock its massive consolidated headquarters in Seattle's revitalized South Lake Union neighborhood (pictured).

This week's SiteNet Dispatch brings readers new and exclusive stories from the March 2008 issue of Site Selection, including:

THE SITENET DISPATCH IS SPONSORED BY:
North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives and The State of New Jersey.

Huge, in the Littoral Sense: Austal is building the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (pictured) at its Mobile, Ala., shipyard, where the company now has decided to invest $254 million in another expansion.
There's more expansion news online in global project coverage from London-based partner Oxford Intelligence. This week's installment includes:
  • "Hyundai to Build Parts Plant in Russia"
  • "ICBC to Open Australian Branch"
  • "Abengoa to Create 75 Jobs in Netherlands"
  • "Flextronics Expands in Hungary"
  • "Saint-Gobain Further Invests in Bulgaria"
Where in the World? The unusual object that's pictured here, dear readers, is "the world's biggest banjo." Can you name the city in which this rather bizarre item is located?
