Steel's falling on Alabama these days after the state ponied up a US$1-billion-plus subsidy package to bring ThyssenKrupp's massive US$3.7-billion, 2,700-employee plant to a site north of Mobile. Already, the project's spin-off action has started, creating the first new positions in what could be 50,000 secondary jobs. (Look for much more on the ThyssenKrupp deal in the upcoming July issue of Site Selection.)
